The pace of sustainability transformation in the retail industry is accelerating, and President Chain Store Corporation has taken the lead. Since 2021, the Company has established four key task forces—carbon reduction, plastic reduction, food waste reduction, and sustainable procurement—to drive green operations at its core.
In recent years, the concept of “green energy operations” has been further integrated into business operations. Leveraging a network of over 7,100 stores across Taiwan, the Company connects its supply chain and affiliates through advanced logistics and energy management systems. By actively promoting energy-saving and carbon reduction initiatives, it reduces emissions while enhancing operational efficiency, building a resilient retail ecosystem and extending sustainability to consumers’ daily lives.
Energy Transition - PV Self-Generation and Self-Use, Energy Visualization, and Digital Twin Models
Self-Generated and Self-Used Solar Power
President Chain Store Corporation worked with its logistics affiliate President Transnet Corroboration to install a 320 kW rooftop solar photovoltaic system at the Taichung ambient, refrigerated, and frozen logistics center, wheeling green electricity to business headquarters and certain stores. The wheeling officially began in March 2025. Over the year, the Company cumulatively used 335,000 kWh of green electricity and obtained 335 green electricity certificates issued for the period from March 1, 2025 to November 30, 2025. Going forward, the Company will continue to expand self-installed rooftop solar photovoltaic systems at logistics sites to wheel green electricity to stores, gradually increasing renewable energy use.
Digital Twin
President Chain Store Corporation worked with President Information Corp. to promote green retail transformation, introducing smart IoT energy-saving systems at 32 standard stores and four supermarket-format stores. The core of the project lies in establishing a “Digital Twin” model. Through real-time monitoring of data from refrigerators, air conditioning, lighting, and foot traffic, the system achieves dynamic energy consumption optimization. It can automatically regulate refrigeration frequency and adjust lighting switches based on the intensity of natural daylight.
For supermarket-format stores, the project further integrates rainwater recycling systems to implement the circular use of water resources. Through IoT technology, this project achieves precise carbon reduction, not only improving energy operational efficiency but also building a replicable low-carbon retail business model, demonstrating the digital innovation capabilities of the retail industry as it moves toward net-zero emissions.
Energy Visualization Dashboard
The “Energy Visualization Dashboard” uses sensors and monitoring systems to integrate signals originally scattered across equipment and the environment, enabling stores to turn “status” into “information.” Indicators such as water and electricity saving rates, carbon emissions, and the electricity consumption ratio by air-conditioning category can be displayed on the same dashboard, allowing energy management to be practiced in a more intuitive and efficient way. At present, ESG energy dashboards installed at four 7-Fresh supermarket-format stores can display real-time energy consumption by equipment type, as well as the store’s electricity saving rate and carbon reduction amount for the day, enabling consumers entering the store to clearly understand its energy use status.
In addition, the energy dashboard can also display real-time outdoor temperature, indoor comfort levels, and the operating temperature of air-conditioning equipment. This enables the public to further understand how stores, after introducing air-conditioning energy-saving controls, can effectively reduce unnecessary electricity consumption and carbon emissions while maintaining a comfortable indoor environment. Through the visual presentation of real-time energy data, the dashboard not only enhances store management and information transparency, but also helps raise public awareness of and attention to energy conservation and sustainable operations.
